Ryan and I just got back from an awesome week visiting our families in Austin, TX. We also celebrated our 1st anniversary and my 20th birthday! Let me just say I love Austin, and if you have not visited this amazing city, you should plan a trip.
Our anniversary was great! On Saturday, my parents took us out for lunch to an awesome mexican restaurant called Trudi's (located on 32nd and Guadalupe...check it out.) It was so good!!! Later that evening, Ryan and I went down to the Congress bridge downtown to watch the bats. There is one of the largest colonies of bats in the U.S. that live under this bridge, and it is the coolest thing to watch them fly out at sunset. We were going to go to a nice restaurant for dinner, but we were still too full from our delicious lunch! So we hung out a little downtown and then went out for dessert. Sunday, August 2nd, was our actual anniversarry, even though we celebrated the whole weekend. We spent the day at my in-laws' house. Ryan baked me a delicious cake and we exchanged presents. I have the most wonderful husband! I can not believe we have been married for a year already!
Ryan was taking a weeklong class at ACC for an architecture computer program, so I was able to hang out with my family during the day while Ryan was at his class. My little sister, Cassie, was so excited that I was home and we spent lots of time together. We also got to see my aunt and uncle and cousins. My uncle, Loren, is an amazing cook, and he grilled some of the best baby back ribs and shrimp I have ever had! Loren cooked all of our food for our wedding too!
Ryan, my brother Travis, my brother-in-law Derek, and I all went to Six Flags Fiesta Texas the day before my birthday. We had an awesome time and rode pretty much every ride at the park. Travis, Derek and I also won Batman capes which we wore for the rest of the day. We were all exhausted when we got home that night and I did not wake up to 11am the following day. I must be getting old...
My 20th birthday was August 11th. Cassie can finally stop calling me a "teenager." I kept trying to explain that since I am a junior in college and am married, I am an adult. But Cassie said that becuase I was nine"teen" I was still a "teenager." Well, I am finally twenty years old and no longer a teen. My family and I went out for lunch to the Cheesecake factory. Even Ryan loved the cheesecake there(and he hates cheesecake).
All in all, we had a wonderful trip. We'll miss you Austin, TX! Until November then!
This blog is so awesome :)
