One Worried Mama!

I spaced and missed Rylee's four month appointment at the beginning of the month, so we just got in today. 13lbs 15oz, 25 inches long!

So something I had noticed is that Rylee's fontanels have always seemed a little small. Well her anterior one has pretty much already closed up, and it's still kind of early. Her doctor noticed it today too. That in combination of what appears to be a saggital ridge has him a little concerned, so he referred us to a cranial clinic to get a scan done. Hopefully it's nothing, but we might be looking at craniosynostosis.

If her cranial plates have already fused together, we're going to have to see a neurosurgeon and do surgery to separate those bones to allow her brain to grow. "Neurosurgeon" and "your baby" should not be used in the same sentence! I'm attempting not to panic, but we have to wait till the 19th to get into the cranial clinic.

I have found that when it comes to Rylee, I can not have an objective nurse-ish opinion. All my emotions and thoughts are skewed with her because she is my baby! Part of my heart feels like it's outside my body in her, and I literally ache with the thought of something happening to her. Thinking about a major cranial surgery freaks me out in every way! 

So as I endeavor to relax and not have a panic attack over something that may or may not happen, I will "keep calm and chive on."

Baby Blessing, Beach, and Hiking

I noticed since I've started Rylee's blog, I've been neglecting our family blog! So here's a brief catch up from the month of July!

On July 7th, we blessed Rylee in church.

4 months old! I have more pictures but they're on my computer, so I'll upload them later!

My grandma that made my wedding dress saved bits of lace and satin that she used in Rylee's blessing dress! Gorgeous and so special for us!

Last weekend, July 20th, we took our first family beach trip to Mustang Island State Park! We just did a day trip, but it was fun and relaxing(surprisingly enough). Rylee was really enthralled by all the new stuff to look at!

And then this weekend my family was here and Rylee finally got to hiking with her Gramps!

Rylee's First Fourth of July!

We had a great Fourth of July! 

We actually made it to the church pancake breakfast this year(Ryan didn't even know that was a thing), and then we decided it was a great idea to go brave the crowds at Sea World! It was Ryan and Rylee's first time going and we had a blast. We only saw two shows and did two rides, but we have season passes, so we plan on going back a lot! It's only about 15 minutes away which is great.

I sadly realized today that I have no amusement park stamina anymore. When I was fourteen I could last days at an amusement park! Now, I get off a roller coaster and have a headache, and feel wiped after a couple hours!

We left around 4 and were all pretty exhausted. 

We stopped at Rudy's to get banana pudding, and what'd ya know, that location didn't have it either! The other Rudy's we've been to here also was lacking in the pudding department. I called the third and last SA location only to discover it was also a no go on banana pudding. Needless to say this made me go a little bananas! So sad I have to drive to New Braunfels to get my banana pudding fix.

On to the rest of our day. I was ready to skip fireworks and go to bed, but I felt obligated to go watch because I would feel old and lame if we didn't(remember I was already feeling that way from our day at Sea World!). And it was Rylee's first Fourth, and even though she wouldn't remember, I felt like it was a necessity! So we dragged ourselves out to SA's "Official Firework Show" at Woodlawn Park. The neighborhood we had to park in was super sketch, traffic was horrendous, and we ended up walking a ways through unlit streets to get to the park. The firework show itself was pretty lame. They didn't really have any BIG ones, even in the finale, and it was pretty short. As we were walking back to the car, we could hear the deep booms coming from the downtown show. We even got to catch the tail end of it from a distance as we sat in traffic trying to get back out to I-10.

Next year if you find yourself in SA for the Fourth, do yourself a favor and go to the downtown show!

But overall it was a great day and a successful first Fourth for Rylee!
